This guide provides step-by-step instructions on installing and running the Xally.ai Node Client on Virtual Private Server (VPS)

When to run a node on a VPS?

If your computer (Windows, or Linux) doesn't meet the requirements for or you're using a macOS device, we highly recommend using a Virtual Private Server (VPS) as a powerful alternative.

Intructions

  1. Purchase a VPS

To ensure a stable and secure environment for running Xally.ai Node, we recommend choosing a well-known VPS provider such as AWS, Google Cloud, Vultr, or DigitalOcean. These providers offer free trial credits, so you can try their service before committing.

  • Google Cloud:

  • DigitalOcean:

  • Vultr:

Select a VPS plan that meets the following requirements:

  • Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04 x64

  • Minimum Specifications

    • RAM: 4 GB

    • CPU Cores: 2

    • Disk Space: 40 GB

  1. Connect to your VPS

Connect to your VPS using an SSH client. The specific steps may vary depending on your provider, but you can refer to these instructions from Vultr:

  2. Install a Graphical User Interface (GUI)

By default, Ubuntu Server doesn't have a graphical user interface (GUI). To run the Xally.ai Node Client software, you'll need to install a GUI environment. Here's a guide from Vultr on installing a GUI:

  3. Connect to VPS via Remote Desktop

Once you have a GUI installed, you can connect to your VPS using a Remote Desktop application on your personal computer.

  • Get your VPS IP address in your VPS provider's control panel

  • Note that: Enter your VPS IP address in the format {your_VPS_IP_address}:{port_number} with the port number set to 53579

  • If the connection is successful, you will see the Ubuntu graphical interface on your screen.

  1. Download and Install the Xally.ai Node Client

Click on the downloaded file and proceed with the installation. Once installed, launch the Xally Node Client software.

  1. Activate the Xally.ai Node Client

This step connects your wallet address, where you purchased your nodes, to the Xally.ai Node Client software using an API key.

  • Copy your API Key

  • Open the Xally.ai Node Client software on your computer. Paste the copied API key and click "Activate".

  • Upon activation, the main screen will display all the nodes you've purchased.

  1. Run node

  • Click "Run All" to start all your purchased nodes. You will see the first gXALLY update within the next hour.

  • gXALLY will be updated hourly.

  • If you purchase additional nodes using the same wallet address, they will automatically start running on the Xally.ai Node Client software without any further action required.

Connect using Remote Desktop: refer to these instructions and select the guide for your operating system (Windows, Linux, macOS):

After connecting via Remote Desktop, open the Firefox browser on your VPS desktop and download the Xally.ai Client for Ubuntu from:

Visit the Account page , and log in with the wallet you used to purchase the node.
